Pledge Over Time - 3rd Payment! And... a Wraithmarked Update!

Final Pledge Over Time Payment!

We wanted to check in real quick to let all the Pledge Over Time folks that they should be expecting to see the third (and final!) charge for their pledge today or in the next few days.

Please be aware that the times mentioned above are estimates. We try to stick to them as much as possible, but sometimes it takes an extra day or two to move on to the next phase of the process.

Preparing to send out Surveys...

Also, we're just about ready to start sending out surveys, but the last piece of that process is what's called a smoke test. To do this, we send out surveys to about 5% of backers to make sure everything in Backerkit is working as it should and that we haven't broken anything. We'll be conducting this test over the long weekend 9 holiday for folks in the States on Monday), so those 5% of surveys will go out this Friday. If everything goes well, you can expect the rest of the surveys to go out by Wednesday at the latest!

While we do that, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  • Spam Folder: Survey emails can occasionally find their way to your spam folder. Once we announce that all surveys have gone out, if you don't see anything come through from Backerkit, check your spam folder first.
  • Apple ID Email Addresses: If the email address tied to your Kickstarter account is a secure Apple ID address, the survey email may be blocked entirely. The email addresses look something like this:  "[email protected]". Again, once all surveys go out, if you're not seeing the email from Backerkit, check to see if your email looks like one of these. You can try contacting Kickstarter support to change that, though we've seen backers have mixed results.
  • If either of the above situations is the case, or you can't find your email invite at all, please email [email protected] to let us know, and we'll get that straightened out for you. To expedite the process, please provide us with your name, backer number, or the AppleID email address so we can locate your account!
  • If you send us a message on Kickstarter, we may request that you send the message to our support email instead. Thank you.

If you are a Late-Pledge backer (if you choose to back this campaign after the funding period comes to an end), you will not receive a survey as all necessary information we need is collected upon check-out!

A Note on our Support Availability...

There are 1-2 of us who monitor support emails. We'll introduce ourselves in a future update, but for the moment, we want to fill y'all in on our availability.

First, we work 8am-4pm EST, Monday-Friday, excluding all US Holidays. If you contact us via email ([email protected]), you can expect us to reply in 3-5 business days, though typically much sooner than that. 

A look behind the curtain...

Typically, we like to show you guys behind the scenes goings on when it comes to book production such as quote requests, a look at the interior art and merch goodies offered during the campaign, maybe even an author signing - that kind of stuff! However, when we can, we also like to let you folks know that we are still a small, independent company with a handful of dedicated employees wanting to make waves in the publishing world. We've come a long way from when we ran our very first campaign, which brings us to today...

We are officially moving into our first warehouse! No more garages or storage units! WOOHOO!

This may not be the most exciting news for some, but for us, it was a looong time coming. We are so excited to begin this new journey in a new location, and we've already started moving our things over! We now have a loading dock! (Like I said, very exciting for us)

That being said, during this process, our support and responses will be a little longer than normal as it's all-hands-on-deck for the move. We're anticipating things to return to normal later next week, but keep in mind, we may have a slight backlog to get through. Pledge Over Time - 2nd Payment

We wanted to check in to let all the Pledge Over Time folks that they should be expecting to see the second of three charges for their pledge today or in the next few days. There will be one final payment after this on or around February 12th. Once those have been completed, we'll be sending surveys out to all backers. We expect that to happen on or around February 12th, as well.

Hey there, folks!

Hope you're having a joyous evening! It's been a great month and in the final hours, you've helped us raise more than $70,000! Thank you all for the support!


MOVING FORWARD...

Here is what you can expect in the coming weeks and months.
 
  • First, Kickstarter will begin processing payments for your pledges. That will take approximately 2 weeks. If you did not use Pledge Over Time, this will be the full amount of your pledge. If you opted to use Pledge Over Time, this will be the first 1/3rd of your total pledge.
  • If you selected Pledge Over Time, your second payment will be on or around January 12th, followed by your third and final payment on or around February 12th
  • Once the final payment has been made for Pay Over Time backers, we will send out all surveys to the email addresses you have attached to your Kickstarter account. We expect this to occur by or around February 12th.
  • Answer your survey questions and grab any extra Add-Ons you want. For those of you asking how to make your tier selections, you'll do that here. Due to the shipping beta test, shipping will be charged at this time.
  • As we get all of the products made, you can expect to see an update from us 1-2 times a month. So stay tuned here for all the latest!
  • Once we have the products and are ready to start fulfillment, we will post an update and send an email giving everyone 48 hours to update their addresses if needed. Once that window closes, you will not be able to update your address yourself and will need to contact us directly to make those changes.
  • With addresses locked, we will start packing and shipping. This final step will take some time. We appreciate your patience. <3

TO REITERATE THE SHIPPING BETA TEST...

In case you missed it on the campaign page, we are beta testing something new for this project (and likely for the rest of 2025)!

We've gotten a range of feedback over the last year about how to make our books more accessible to everyone, and one of the most common places we hear we could make a simple change is by charging shipping later so that it's an additional opportunity to split the product costs.

For this project, all shipping and handling fees will be processed on BackerKit when backer surveys are sent out (about 2.5 months after the campaign ends), rather than here on the campaign when you make your pledge.

THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE SHIPPING COST. We will be outlining what every item's shipping will be post-campaign up front so you can account for it. We're doing this for a few reasons. 

  • First, based on feedback we've gotten from our backers and the larger deluxe book community, charging shipping later makes our books more accessible to more people.
  • Second, this change also cuts our costs a little.
  • Third, this simplifies campaign management on our side of things significantly, hopefully reducing customer difficulties and improving our quality of customer service.

Oh, and also, we're changing our shipping costs a bit, particularly for our non-US backers. Those of you in the UK should be particularly pleased! 😄 The table below has a rough breakdown of what those costs look like. These prices are also shown in your pledge level and/or Add-On selection, so you know what to expect.

Second Stretch Goal Surpassed!

Back so soon? It's all thanks to you! With the $50k milestone unlocked, a second endsheet will now be included in the book! This time, the illustration will be done by Felix Ortiz!

Next up at $75k, we'll be including another interior illustration piece! This would also be done by Felix Ortiz!

First Stretch Goal Reached!

Hello there, everyone!

Y'all have helped us cross our first stretch goal already—we're so excited! Thanks everyone!

With the $25k milestone unlocked, each of the books will now be printed on thicker paper; this will make the books more rugged and durable while also giving them a more quality feel!

Next up, unlocking the $50k stretch goal will guarantee a second endsheet illustration. This time, it will be done by the lovely, the wonderful, Felix Ortiz!
